Artist Statement

Meeting people and watching people has always been a passion of mine. Painting them is a true love.

I find that a figure can be a source of great beauty and always a new challenge for me to paint. Oil is my chosen medium because like people it has so many facets to explore. Whether it is a hand, a foot,a lock of hair, or someone’s face, I incorporate a sense of the person through color and form. I like to draw my viewers into my work and capture the human appeal.

Most of the people I use in my work are family, friends or some one who has shared an event or experience with me. My paintings tell stories through portraiture and history. Looking at works from the Renaissance and Early Renaissance always inspire me and influence my choices for the series that I paint.
